Prometheus Bronze Clay - No Carbon Required

YES, this is the new bronze clay that I spoke about in my earlier post that I plan on testing using the MicroKiln (microwave kiln) as soon as it arrives.

This  is a rapid and low fire bronze clay that was developed in Turkey and although not yet available in the US you can purchase it directly and shipping is FREE for a short period of time.

Several metal clay artist who have tested it using a conventional kiln or torch have had fantastic results.  It sinters via a torch in 5 minutes and conventional kiln in 30 minutes at 700C.

Prometheus™ Bronze Clay
  • -can be stored at room temperature

  • -does not stick to hands at normal consistency

  • -gives you long working time by its slow drying character

  • -shrinks only 7-9 %

  • -does not need long firing hours

  • -does not need high firing temperatures

  • -does not need a firing pan or activated carbon

  • -does not need large and programmable kilns

  • Can't wait to test it and will provide you pictures of my first designs created using the MicroKiln so stay tuned.......

NEW DESIGNS FRESH OUT OF THE MICROWAVE KILN

Just had to share with your my latest designs using copper clay.  I am having so much fun sintering this new clay in my MicroKiln.  I seem to create a lot more designs then I use to with PMC and Art Clay Silver because it cost much less.   We are talking about $17.99 for 50 grams of copper clay versus $75 to $82 for 50 grams of PMC or ACS.

If you have wanted to work with fine silver clay but were afraid you would mess up in creating a design and monies would be lost ----- worry no more.  Let me make a few suggestions:

    • First - start out practicing with polymer clay (this will help you to get use to hand forming designs).
    • Second - use copper clay to practice and create designs becoming familiar with the feel and attributes of copper clay.
    • Third - when you are satisfied with what you can do with copper clay, learn the differences between the metal clays and start creating fantastic fine silver designs.

Below are my latest creations using copper clay and the MicroKiln:

CHECK OUT MY NEW COPPER MICROWAVE KILN DESIGNS

      Hello Everyone,

I am so excited to share with you my first Art Clay Copper microwave designs. This is a fantastic product (copper clay) and the designs you see below were fired using the large MicroKiln (microwave kiln) that I sell on my website at www.designsbysylvanye.com. In fact all the designs in this blog were created with the MicroKiln.  This is the same type of microwave kiln I use in testing microwave kiln jewelry design capabilities and well as in my workshops.

Starting tomorrow, I will run test firing the copper clay with glass and hope to have samples of those for you to see before Friday.

Please check out my designs below and let me know what you think.

       Note:
The bracelet that you see has not been completed - needing to add more disks and a clasp that will be made from the copper also.

YES, you read RIGHT – The NEW Art Clay Copper manufactured by Aida Chemical Industries, Co., Ltd. does not require the use of activated carbon or a firing pan, and can be fired in the MicroKiln (microwave kiln distributed in the United States by Designs by Sylvanye Glass Studio).

Art Clay Copper, the newest addition to the Art Clay line of metal clay products was introduced to the United States on 12/1/09 by Art Clay World, USA, Inc. the North American Distributor of the Art Clay™ Series of products.
